Sr. Pam Chetty Pam trained at St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban , South Africa . She obtained an Oncology / Hematology qualification through university of Alberta , Canada. She has worked within the field of oncology / hematology from 2001 until 2019. Pam facilitated for the ICCF – oncology course. As a volunteer for Igazi, she facilitated and did lectures for the Nurses Leukemia Training (NLT) symposia for nurses. She was awarded the Ingelosi Award for assisting in the upgrade of the King Edward hematology chemotherapy facility. She has been published and has written an article on RENAL CELL CARCINOMA in professional nursing Journal . Pam has been a regular presenter at SASMO/SASCeTS and SACHAS congresses in the Nurses Sessions |

Sr. Heather Ely Heather Ely is a registered nurse who has been practising in haematology/oncology for almost 40 years. She has attended international oncology conferences for nurses biennially since 1992 and presented a poster in 2004 at the ICCN in Australia on job satisfaction levels of nurses in private oncology units across South Africa. She was also invited to chair an international session at an ICCN conference in Prague in 2012. National conferences she has attended include SASMO/SASRO. She contributed a chapter to an oncology book in 1995 as well as restarting the oncology course at CPUT where she was a part-time lecturer from 2000-2002. She did the GCP course in 2016 as well as being the trial co-ordinator for a new lung cancer drug in the same year. |

Ms. Zelda Hugo Zelda has 17 year’s clinical dietetic experience. She gained experience in a wide variety of specialist areas in Dietetics in diverse environments and different job roles here in South Africa and abroad in London. She has been a speaker on many different platforms educating healthcare workers and the public on Nutrition in specialized settings. As a member of the HPCSA, ADSA and SASPEN, she has been invited to speak at CANSA and ADSA events as well as conferences like SACSETS and SASMO. Zelda has been part of the ACT practice’s, multidisciplinary team at Pretoria East Hospital for 10 years now. She focuses her expertise on haematology and oncology. She is passionate about educating patients on nutrition truths and helping them to find their individual healthy diet. |

Sr. Maryna de Lange Maryna de Lange is an experienced Stem Cell Transplant Coordinator. After earning her Bachelor of Social Science in Nursing from the University of Free State, she became the Clinical Facilitator at Netcare Kuils River Hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, before joining Haemalife as their Transplant Coordinator in 2017. The main focus of her work is to coordinate the evaluation and preparation of patients, as well as donors, for Stem Cell Collection, Haematopoietic Stem Cell (HSC) Transplantation, cellular therapies, and post-transplant care. She also coordinates patient care in other settings, including outpatient clinics and the inpatient nursing unit, in order to provide patients with continuity care. She also completed a Multi-disciplinary Advanced Course on Vascular Access in 2018 and has since been responsible for the insertion of the majority of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters for patients requiring central venous access. Driven by her passion for her patients, she takes pride in providing the best care possible. |

Sr. Deloshini Naidoo Deloshini lives in Chatsworth Durban, and after matric in 1994, she studied as a teacher at Springfield College of Education for four years, obtaining a Higher Diploma of Education specializing in mathematics and natural science. She did not remain long in this profession, and pursued her passion, being nursing, and after four years, graduated at the RK Khan Campus in 2002 with a Diploma in General Nursing, Community, Midwifery and Psychiatry. Later, she completed a diploma in Oncological and Surgical nursing at UKZN in 2010. She is currently employed at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Cato Manor, Durban and has been part of the Haematology Unit since 2006. The Bone Marrow Transplant unit was commissioned in 2007, and she has been involved with assisting with transplants in this unit since then. She has been a speaker at previous Haematology conferences in SA. These opportunities are rare for state sector nurses, and she embraces the challenge to be able to participate and contribute to the learning environment. She loves Haematology/Oncology and is passionate about ensuring patients receive holistic care. Patient’s face various difficulties and challenges in the state sector and making a difference in their lives is very important to her. |

Sr. Eileen Claassens Eileen has been nursing since 1985. She worked in the oncology ward at Unitas hospital for 4 years then left to work at ABJ oncology for 13 years. Eileen completed my B Tech oncology degree at the age of 51. This was a major challenge to study after so many years . The last 10 years she has been the outpatient manager at the Pretoria East Transplant unit for Dr Brittain and partners (Albert cellular therapy.) and was part of the team that achieved the European JACIE accreditation, which is the highest standard that is awarded to Haematology and Stem cell units internationally. Eileen has been instrumental in co-ordinating and running international clinical drug trials and was in Germany 6 years ago at a meeting to share information and requirements to implement a new study. She has been involved in arranging and co-ordinating the nursing sessions at local Haematology meetings and has also attended many international congresses Working in haematology is very challenging and rewarding and is a completely different to oncology. She says that is a very interesting, stimulating, and evolving field, and the staff learn something new every day. This unit has a dedicated team, who really go the extra mile for the patients, and Eileen herself, with her vast experience is a major asset to this team. |

Carien Van der Merwe She started her studies with a BA Communications PU for CHO, Potchefstroom (1988) and then later studied pharmacy and completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree at Wits Medical School, Johannesburg (2002) She found her passion in oncology pharmacy 15 years ago at Donal Gordon Hospital starting in Paediatric oncology. She then worked as responsible pharmacist in adult oncology at Ruff and Partners. Since then, she has been teaching junior oncology pharmacists and pharmacy students throughout Southern African countries. She is actively involved in organizing national oncology pharmacy conferences and is a Board member of SASOPh (South African Society of Oncology Pharmacists). Through the years she has been honoured to be invited as a speaker in both local and international oncology pharmacy conferences. She is also the national representative for SA to the European Society of Oncology Pharmacists (ESOP). She is currently doing the accreditation for all the South African Oncology Consortium (SAOC) oncology sites in South Africa. They follow international guidelines not only to ensure safe working standards for pharmacists and staff involved with medical oncology and cytotoxic substances, but also to enhance the outcome of the patients. Carien is highly regarded, and her experience and academia in this field is of the highest standard. |

Sr Ina Strijbis Ina, a diversly qualified, people orientated oncology nurse, has been working for 10 years in an oncology/haematology setting taking care of patients with different types of cancer. She always had a passion for oncology/haematology care since she was a student resulting in her developing her entire career on cancer care. She worked as an oncology nurse in different cancer care settings assisting and educating patients during chemotherapy, caring for them including end of life/palliation. She is currently head of the Clinical Team at Haemalife at Netcare Kuilsriver assisting with patients in the Transplant Unit and those visiting our Haemalife Clinic. |
